A not so scary homework assignment

Pete-FingerhutWe look for a different kind of service from our local media partners. Yes, we utilize them to air important commercial messages throughout the year, but we primarily look for our partners to deliver promotional opportunities that enhance our visitors’ experience while enjoying their time here at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.

The Solution Store is true to their name. They consistently bring me unique, one-of-a-kind solutions. From creating a Pamper Zone featuring free spa services and Cheryl’s Cookies for all Mom’s on Mother’s Day, to creating a wonderful partnership with the Broadway Series presentation of the Lion King which was tied in with the opening of our Heart of Africa exhibit, I can always count on a customized idea, one that was created just for me, to do exactly what I need it to do.

I gave The Solution Store a homework assignment 5 years ago. I wanted to create a haunted house on-site at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, during our marquee October event, Boo at the Zoo. I had visited numerous haunted houses across the country, and never could find a way to realistically make it work. I had to put the idea to bed. So, when asked if they could have a homework assignment, I gave them a shot. I’m proud to say that 2014 will be our 4th year featuring the Lil’ Boo Mansion, our kid-friendly “not so scary” haunted house, made possible through a partnership with the Columbus chapter of NARI (the National Association of the Remodeling Industry). I thank the Solution Store for taking the lead in identifying, creating and solidifying this partnership.

If I can give a good piece of advice….when The Solution Store asks you for a homework assignment, big or small, give them one. You will enjoy the creativity, as well as the way they approach business.
